*warning: do not read and drive*
I reckon the nastiest feeling in the world is when you're a student studying overseas, and it's cold outside, and you've got the sniffles, and you're fricking alone, in your bed and you're suddenly hit with a big case of homesickness. And that's what happened to me Wednesday night. With three twinkling stars in the nightsky and listening to Rufus' Wainwright's cover of The Beatles "Across the Universe" on my iPod, I cried myself sick because I had a bad case of the homesick blues.
I've been very bad and not been updating my blog heh. Malas wahhhh...first week of the semester just started. Oh and I have Friday off. Joy. And if I feel rajin and wake up early on Monday morning..I get Thursday AND Friday off. Double joy. Ohh rupanya Ned Kelly ani org Victoria...I'm watching the movie with Heath Ledger (bida with jenggut) and Orlando Bloom in it...Sad ah? Friday night and this is what I do...
Sungkai-ing alone is sooooo depressing. Not having tarawikh to go to is depressing. The guys have been quite nice and inviting me to have dinner out with them but it's just not the same :(
It's quite hard having no other fellow Muslims around.
Okay no more depressing talk.....
Since I had today off (yay), went to the city to drop off the stuff that Mummy and Auntie Rashidah kirim for Ka Siti, Abg Man n Nazrin. I thought "Gee! Better wake up at 9 in the morning, then jumpa the ppl in the city and then sempat jua join the others for a movie before Sungkai" Pfffffffffffffffffffffffft. I woke up at 1. And when the others said to join them for dinner di Chaddy sja, it was 6.30 in the evening and the last bus to Chaddy left at 6.05. So went to the bus stop for NOTHING and arrived home 5 minutes after sungkai time. (This is sooo still depressing)
Yesterday went to the city too...the lecture finished at 2pm and Auntie had mentioned going to the city or Chaddy the day before. I figure baik tah city, then can jumpa Mun and give her the stuff her mom kirim. SoooooOoo~ went to Revival (evil place!!! cause they had tons of cute bags and I bought one when I planned to SAVE this trimester!!!!) Skali Auntie suggested hanging around in the city and having Sungkai at Nando's. I was sooo craving Nando's AND Lix Gelati :D so I agreed. But by the time I arrived home my feet hurt to the max! And it wasn't just because we went from one end of Melb Cent to the other...it just andang hurt. IT STILL DOES!!! (by the way, saw a guy that TOTALLY looked like Mr De Leon passing by Nando's..)
Anyway...school talk time...Alhamdulillah, my tutors look pretty good this semester. Insya Allah it'll be a good sem. And I'm in more classes with the guys. Like, I have almost every class with Auntie, a couple of lecs and tuts with Dwayne and Hankee and all of us meet up for Stats. The Law library kicks ass!!!!~~ It has these oak and mahogany study desks and leather sofas and EVERYTHING!!!! Joy!!~~~~
My media studies lecturer and tutor (same guy) looks like a 3rd year student and we were doubting his qualifications..skali he was like "I know I look young, but I'm currently working on my PhD. so don't worry--I'm fully qualified for this job". Heh. And I reckon Melburnians are so bored that all they do is study. Cause my law tutor has 4 degrees--of which 3 are for meteorology, astrology and geology. And now he's teaching me law. GO FIGURE. But he's super nice. He was asking everyone where we were from and when I answered he told me that he used to work for a TV station and used to do the weather for South East Asian countries and when he looked at Brunei's weather he would ask himself why ANYONE would want to live there. Oh. and I'm the first Bruneian he's ever met. The Stats tutor is super nice as well..People think he's Indian but his accent sounds Jamaican..and we all know how COOL Jamaicans are huhuhu....I guess the Macroecons tutor is the only bland one...her voice is just soooooooooooooooo...well, boring..OOOH AND my law lecturer? sooooo looks like the Mr. version of mrs. Doubtfire. But he's sooooo...lawyer-ish. Nice fellow. Ah well.
The whole city is currently obsessed with horses...because of the Melboune Cup...WHICH btw, was where I had my exams last sem. Palui ah? Like, if I turun from the escalator from the exam room (which are the cleared out cafes of Caulfield Racecourse!!!!!!), I'm immediately faced with the betting rooms of the racecourse. Dusa dusa.....
Skalinya kan, I had an interesting flight coming back here. The whole week before I left Brunei, my dad said that I'll have two days stopover in Singapore so my brother will be going with me jadi dgni..and I was sooooo not believing this cause my brother is such a baby despite what his size suggests (SO not being mean...just realistic) but in the days coming up to my flight, I gave my brother the benefit of the doubt. Skali di airport ani, I was all sad, trying to stop the tears when I hugged everyone..skali, in the plane, I should have figured it out cause I was seated at the back and my brother had two empty seats next to him..tapinya I had a blonde moment and I was all "Kay, I'll sit next to you once the plane takes off" to my brother. And then, at the very to the very last minute, I saw my parents coming up the aisle. HEH. So I had TWO whole extra days with my family. Gosh I feel like crying now that I'm thinking about it. I totally cried at Changi airport and the security guys must have felt sorry for me or sthg cause I went through the security checks pretty quickly. Who would have thought I was such a weeper??? In the gate found Andrew so had a buddy to share the taxi home with :D Sini mahal wah...$70 bucks for the ride home...
Anyways, NEXT WEEK IS RAYA!!!!! I can't wait! I'll be going down to the city and sleeping over for the whole weekend from Friday onwards....I don't know exactly what I'll be doing but at least I'll be amongst Bruneians :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D But I will soooooo miss everyone at home...Gosh I feel like weeping right now! Nvm...liat Joey sja...hehehehehe..
