Ramblings mid-assignment
I came across this..I typed it in the middle of one particularly difficult assignment and I was trying to distract myself, other than from utilising the internet...and so: Human beings are funny. When you like someone’s personality or are so used to it that you just find it endearing, they can get away with anything. In fact, even if there are people with similar personalities, you find that it is their intentions that make you like them…so you may find two people with the same personalities, who have different intentions…you’ll find one annoying and the other endearing. If this is in anyway confusing, then there’s no use re-reading the paragraph cause you’ll either get it or you don’t.
To illustrate my point, there are two people in Uni that have similar personalities but one has intentions that are good…and the other has an udang sebalik batu personality as the Malay adage goes, in other words…they always want something from you. Sometimes your gut feeling distinguishes between the two, sometimes the evidence is glaring at you in the face. Well, with two similar personalities, do you think I like both people? Not so much.
I enjoy the company of one, while the other I try to avoid as much as possible. The point of my post is, from what I’ve experienced with these two people, is that no matter what our personality (you can be as weird and kooky as you want), when you treat someone with the best intentions at heart, it won’t matter that both of you don’t listen to the same music or that one’s a nerd and the other starts on their assignment two days before it’s due. And furthermore, when you insult someone behind their back, then someone has insecurity issues, and it ain’t the other person.
