Assalamualaikum. "...The office of entertainment mogul David Geffen, who has reportedly sold the Jackson Pollock work for about $140million (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!). No. 5, 1948 - as the work is called - has been owned by some of the world's richest men over the years including S.I. Newhouse Jr, the New York publishing magnate who sold it to Geffen. " - http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,20694591-38198,00.html. Am i missing something here? I mean, hand my baby cousin Za a piece of paper and some coloured crayons and you just might get something like that! Hmm...maybe I should get him some crayons and plaster a fancy name on it like "Zarafson Bahrain"and be $140 million richer eh? Ha.Ha.Ha. I'm sleepy. Good night!
In between studying for my exams, I have taken the time to read a story book to occupy myself. I don't know I'm just weird like that. It doesn't, of course, take precedence over my studies but the fact that I'm still reading other than a textbook in between exams....? Ah hell...anyway, there was a passage in the book which I thought was worth quoting,
"She would simply wait on the bridge, calm and obstinate, until events, real events, not her own fantasies, rose to her challenge, and dispelled her insignificance." - Ian McEwan, Atonement
I know it's a bit morbid but it relates to how I feel sometimes. I mean, sometimes my mind just wanders of and I think of being this one tiny particle in existence compared to the rest of the universe...it makes you feel pretty insignificant sometimes right? It just humbles you in my opinion when you suddenly feel this way.
Enough about that. Yesterday went shopping for Syubs and Maya's bday stuff with Mun, and Mun caught sight of Ricky Muscat of Aus Idol fame. I had my eyes somewhere else so I can't verify it so I'll take Mun's word for it. That would therefore, be the second time I was within a few metres of an Australian Idol contestant from Melbourne. The first time was with Lavina Williams at the HW. If I stick around enough I'll probably bump into the hottest one of all! LOL.
On a different note, last night the Bruneian gang here celebrated Syubs' and Maya's birthdays which were respectively on the 3rd and 4th. Happy Birthday Syubs! Happy Birthday Maya! We were treated to a nice dinner at Sawasdee by the both of them and coffee at Choc Buddha at Fed Sq. It was overall a pretty good night, and it doubled as the last gathering of the year for the Bruneians here as soon people will be finishing with their exams and going back. It was also a nice break from all the yucky studying that I'm sure everyone has been up to haha. Anyway, had Khalil over and we mandi-ed at like 1.30 in the morning to get rid of the yucky smell of ciggies which stuck to our hair and clothes and ended up eating mee goreng and watching Ali Baba till 2.30 in the morning while our hair dried. LOL. Oops. Bocor rahsia Lil.
Um, skali guess how much the painting below is worth? You won't believe how much the person who bought this particular piece of art paid for it, but it now holds the record for the most expensive piece of art.
