*warning: do not read and drive*
Assalamualaikum
We in Australia are about to end the 13th of April (oh, baru ku sadar Friday the 13th), aka day 2 or day 3 of my attempt at progressing with my assignment. Yea yea I know third day in a row that I'm posting. Assignment = procrastinating and nothing beats a good old procrastinating job like a blog post.
I'm struggling to read the first page of the damn UNFCCC. Trust me, I'm trying. But in the course of my "research" I've discovered what song was playing at the kadai from yesterday. I had a feeling it was the band that was playing on David Letterman last night skali I was right. Mcm whoa spooky how these things happen, you look for a song and a clue presents itself that very evening. Pokoknya tekarih aku ah, rasa nda kan buat krja atu.
The song in question is actually called "Someone Great" from LCD Soundsystem. Gila payah kan men(g?)-download lagu ani. Brapa kali ku download, I always get something with static. Finally I got my way and now I have their whole album. The band plays songs of an electronica/punk fusion (who would have ever thought I'd tahan techno but here I am). But they're not the bad kinda thump-thump-thumping techno which should only be relegated in clubs and pubs. Their kinda techno I can tolerate. I was looking at my playlist of songs in my iTunes tadi and it's really difficult to pinpoint what I like. I guess you could say I love good music. Marie Antoinette's OST is kinda like my playlist, which is prob why I love it. I have to say my musical tastes have evolved since coming here. Dulu I loved anything on Capital FM, then I loved the pseudo-punk movement or hard metal kah apakah namanya tu but then I found indie music. And way before Grey's Anatomy made use of indie music, please, thanks. Cause indie music is huge in Aussie. I think sapa yg kemari and don't take full advantage of the local music scene is missing out. But that's just me, kan? Everyone is different. Astah, napa tia aku ani? Mcm counsellor tia plang - Dr. Phil wannabe aku ah.
Back to the topic of music, I can go on and on about this which is probably why I'm doing it i.e to avoid doing work...I think I really am a slave to music (*cue Slave4U BLEURGH*) and ever since I got my guitar I've been loving it even more. I learn old pop songs to play on it (Extreme's More Than Words for e.g is my favourite for the time being) and rediscovering old songs (Wallflowers, Thirsty Merc who I've retired from for a while). If the song stands the test of time, like how ever many times you listen to it dulu, and walaupun you get a little tired of it, you come back and listen to it and you realise how lawa it still is - I think that defines what a good timeless classic song is. Like when I was playing Thirsty Merc's "when the weather is fine" earlier this afternoon I was surprised to realise how much this song still resonates with me. EMO aku ah. But bear with me. Skali at the end of today my play count on that song is 16. See what I mean?
Anyway, I think Arcade Fire will be a staple in my playlists for a long time to come cause they're just so good. Their songs make you want to stand up and do something...dance, save the world, do good. How many bands can do that? They're like the 2nd generation U2 and that's saying a lot. Hey mun Chris Martin sendiri ckp they're the greatest band in the world right now who are you to argue right? Haha jadinya siapa Chris Martin ani? Bapamu? Classic eh.
I think I find the Bruneian language hilarious. I'm not laughing AT it, I'm laughing WITH it. If I speak it with the Bruneians here, ilang rasa homesick. Terkikik-kikik lagi tu. Napa kan tu ah?So it is the power of language. I've always wondered if most of the stuff you joke about stems from skulah ugama - kedapatan wah, skulah ugama is the source of most Bruneian's capi-capiness. Lumpat2 topic aku ani but as anyone will concur, Sitee ani andangnya random - nda pandai teranah topic nya- telumpat sana telumpat sini.
Tapinya (back to the topic of languages) if RTB actors spoke like they do everyday would Bruneian TV productions improve? Mcm if natural bah bunyinya not forced. There was a joke the Melbourne girls came up with once masa one evening di Starbucks - jgn2 d RTB atu ada mcm special mask yg sedia sdah make up nya and all they have to do is slap it on. It's THAT tabal. So if you will bear with me, imagine cameraman to anchorwoman: "dua minit lagi kan on ready2 tah" and the pembaca berita betudung and everything except make up nya and all she has to do is slap the make up mask on and *cue* "Assalamualaikumwarrahmatullah, berita nasional"... HAHAHA. Nyaman ketawa ku mlm atu...ntah apa dlm kopi starbucks atu ah.
Bah eh, isya' ku dulu. Kul 11.30 dah kraja ku pun alum tah siap2nya. *sigh*
