Assalamualaikum y'alls..
Apologies for the lack of recent posts, this must be the quietest semester this blog has ever experienced. I think it's cause of many extra-curricular activities happening around here. I feel kinda bad, I'm supposed to take advantage of the looong revision period that I have (my exams start quite late), but I can't help it, I'm kinda allergic to my books at the mo. I've spent the last two days babysitting Meera, Kat's baby who I've mentioned before? She's a month old now and super super cute!!!! Like no matter how sangal my arms are I still don't mind carrying her, and when she falls asleep in my arms nda sanggup rasanya to put her in her bed, so I stay up and let her sleep. Melbourne girls jgn jelessssss sapa suruh exam awalllll~~~
Anyway, after catching up on my sleep I did a bit of blog-hopping, mostly to Bruneian sites. The royal wedding preps look to be up and running. When I see all the traditional garb and equipment I get a little homesick. As much grief as I sometimes give my home country, there are just some innate things you can't get rid of that's deep rooted in your self. You kinda feel proud that your culture is unique to your country and that no-one else has it. Masalahnya whether or not other ppl give a shit. LOL. Seriously, the Westernised culture homogenised brainwashed hacks don't really find it pretty or just don't give a shit so it's kinda sad. Tapinya I'm generalising. Just like I tend to generalise Bruneians. You've just gotta give people chances sometimes eh? Ganya Bruneian attitudes are so deep rooted within the majority of the people you find the same frustrating attitudes/ideologies over and over again. Apakan aku ani, buat thesis? Fiiiine I'll lay off...for now.
Just a random question to throw out: how comfortable are you using the word "aku"? Personally, I try to avoid using it but it crops up often without me realising it. In my household using the word "aku" is a big no-no. You refer to yourself as the third person. So when I went to school culture shock lah rasanya everyone using "aku" freely. Mcm SHIT cana ni? Well dulu I didn't use the word "shit" but you get the idea how I felt. Nya nini ku jgn pkai "aku" mun nda kna ambat, tp everyone else pkai "aku"??? I thought in the house nobody used the word "aku" skali as I got older I realised everyone did with their colleagues, friends etc. Mcm palui jua aku atu ah? Anyway, point is because of how I was brought up, to this day I kinda feel guilty using the word "aku". Tapi using "me" in place of "aku" is cawie for me. So eitherI use "aku" or I speak-a da henglish so the "me" or the "I" or the "my" is gramatically correct. Ok, now that I have confessed this, you guys can officially call me anal.
Random ni my post for today. So now I jump to MTV movie awards. As Jai and Lil can testify aku angau kan Gerry Butler. Like how smokin hot was he????? I thought he was soo cute kna bubut oleh the sumo like guy when his speech went on for too long. Like here's the venerable King of Sparta being chased by an extremely overweight dude in a diaper. And while I'm glad he won "best fight" hampa ku 300 didn't get the other awards, I though they could have won "best movie"...dead man's chest was ages ago! There were three highlights for me duing the show:
1. When Sarah Silverman made the Paris joke. At first I thought OUCH that really hurts, but then kan...it's Paris. Salute to her for not storming off though.
2. The liplock between Borat and Anchorman. AS gross as it was I couldn't stop laughing the whole time they were up there.
3. When United 300 won! WOOOOOOOOOO! If you guys haven't seen the nominees for the Best Movie Spoof...check out http://mtvmovieawards.yahoo.com. United 300 deserved it cause the storyline, production, smua lah beat the other noms by miles. Little Miss Squirtgun could get 2nd though cause it had its funny moments.
Anyways, I think I'll wrap it up for now. Good luck to those with exams, if I don't post up anything in the next few weeks, I'll prob see alls you Bruneians in real life real soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! XOXO.
